History
Founded in 1980 as GCD GLOMB CONTAINER DIENST Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung by the General Manager of the time, Sigward Glomb Senior, we can now look back with pride on a more than 38-year-long successful history during which time we have earned ourselves an excellent reputation with our partners at home and abroad in the fields of road, rail and sea transportation, particularly in the container logistics sector. This success has been the result of providing consistent, superior quality.
Sigward Glomb Senior had been involved in forwarding and transportation since the time of his apprenticeship and played a key role in the early days of land-based container handling in 1965. Looking back on a career spanning more than fifty years, he was always able to offer us invaluable advice right up until his passing away in January 2018.
As from 1988, he was supported at management level by Sigward Glomb Junior, and in 1995 Matthias Glomb also joined the company. Both had already "earned their spurs" in shipping and haulage, and they now exercise joint control at senior management level.
From its foundation until 1997, our firm's offices were located in the gatehouses of the container terminal in the free port of Bremerhaven. In November 1997, we then re-located to our own premises at Wurster Strasse 321 in the immediate vicinity of the terminal customs gate. Then in May 2018, as a result of continuous growth in the preceding years, we had no option but to move into a bigger facility at Nevadastrasse 2-4 in the Carl Schurz industrial park, just 700 metres from the previous location.
