2000

Purchase of the company’s first low-loader and launch of the ‘Specialised Transport’ division

2001

First participation in the ‘transport logistic 2001’ trade fair in Munich

2003

Introduction of our first telematics solution for transmitting order data and statuses on our vehicles (MAQS from the dbh database of the Ports of Bremen)

Introduction of a telematics solution with a GCD Glomb truck.

2006

Start of the sponsorship partnership with the Fischtown Pinguins

2018

Move to Nevadastr. 2–4

Relocation of GCD Glomb Container Dienst GmbH to Nevadastraße 2–4 in Bremerhaven.

Julius Glomb joins the company

Our history in brief

GCD Glomb Container Dienst GmbH was founded in 1980 by Sigward Glomb Sr. He had been involved in the freight forwarding and transport industry since his apprenticeship and, from 1965 onwards, was one of the early pioneers of inland container transport. From its first operations on road, rail and sea, the company developed into a reliable partner in container logistics, gaining a reputation beyond Germany’s borders from an early stage. From the outset, the focus was on clear processes and consistently high quality.

In 1988, Sigward Glomb Jr. joined the management team, followed by Matthias Glomb in 1995. Both still run the company today as managing partners. Until 1997, the company’s headquarters were located in the gatehouses at the container terminal, and subsequently at Wurster Straße 321. Since May 2018, we have been operating from our current premises on Nevadastraße in the Carl Schurz industrial estate in Bremerhaven. With a growing team and modern infrastructure, we are now connected across Europe and closely tied to our region.
