GLOMB also handles transport assignments outside of container transport, using modern tautliner semi-trailers for this purpose. This enables us to move general cargo, palletised goods and bulky items safely and reliably. These transports are carried out independently or as a supplement to project shipments, for example for spare parts, packaging materials or additional components.

Our Code XL-certified curtain-sided semi-trailers offer high structural strength and enable secure load fastening. The 13.65-metre-long semi-trailers can be loaded from the side or the rear, offering maximum flexibility. We handle full and part loads within Germany and Europe and can combine conventional transport with large-volume or heavy-haul transport as required.

Operations are managed via our central dispatch office in Bremerhaven, where the planning, management and monitoring of transport operations are coordinated. In addition, we have a Europe-wide network of certified partner companies. Safety and quality are our top priorities. Our semi-trailers comply with the requirements of VDI 2700, and our drivers are specialised in conventional and combined transport.

Frequently asked questions about conventional transport

What does conventional transport mean at GLOMB?

Conventional transport refers to shipments where goods are transported on tarpaulin-covered trailers rather than in containers. This can include general cargo, palletised goods or bulky loads. These shipments often complement containerised projects or provide standalone transport solutions for specific goods.

What trailers does GLOMB use for conventional transport?

We use modern curtain-sided semi-trailers with increased structural strength in accordance with Code XL. These semi-trailers allow for secure load securing and flexible loading and unloading from the side or from the rear. In combination with our tractor units, they are suitable for national and international transport.

When is conventional transport a sensible addition to container logistics?

Conventional transport is ideal when components do not fit into containers or when additional goods need to be moved alongside container shipments. This may be the case for project logistics, spare parts or packaging materials. We plan both areas so that deliveries are coordinated.
